Alessandro Castrogiovanni

Background

Alessandro was born in Biella (Italy) and studied chemistry at the University of Pavia, where he obtained his MSc with Prof. Mauro Freccero, working on the synthesis of ligands targeting G-Quadruplex. In 2016, he moved to Switzerland to start a PhD in the group of Prof. C. Sparr at the University of Basel. He is currently investigating novel approaches for the synthesis of atropisomeric systems and their application as ligands in enantioselective catalysis and electron transfer reactions. During his free time, he enjoys reading, languages and programming.
